I purchased home warranty from Landmark Home Warranty, I upgraded from basic package of $300 to premier coverage of $400 because more things are listed as covered under the premier package, including the refrigerator. When my ice maker in the refrigerator stops working, I called them to submit a claim, and i was told it was not covered because I needed to buy additional refrigerator coverage. If you go Landmark website, it still shows the additional $100 would include 1 kitchen refrigerator, don't trust them, when you need repair, they will find all excuses not to help you at all!

Monetary Loss: $400.

Location: Mesa, Arizona

I love Landmark. If you read their terms, it clearly states what is covered.

If you have renewed, it is your responsibility to check and see what is covered. Their plans vary and on the cheaper plan, you can add on a fridge.

The "Refrigerator Ice Maker" is an add on, or is included in the Value and Deluxe Packages, not the Standard or Premier Packages. I have also used Landmark on 5 or 6 claims and have never had a problem. I am getting ready to renew for my 3rd year.

I am a previous independent contractor that worked Landmark appliance jobs. They never turned down a claim that was covered according to warranty.

You do need to read the warranty and not take for granted coverage and the reason for the failure. The reason for the failure can also be a reason for denial. Remember a warranty is not a coverall. No warranty covers every condition.

These warranties only cover common, specific failures.

Just read the contract and ask specific questions so you are not disappointed later. AH

I've had a Landmark warranty on my home and two rentals for 3 years. I've opened at least 5 claims and they have saved me lots of money. I have never had a problem, and recommend Landmark to anyone who asks.

The wording in the Landmark contract is deliberately vague. It's a pretty common practice in this garbage industry.

Everyone I've talked to says they have never been happy with any of these home warranty companies. If you have the opportunity I'd say avoid these companies altogether.

They've been to our house three times, denied all three times. Even after we upgraded.

Waste of time, money and energy.

I have a list of guys who do all kinds of work, but we started calling these dudes, when the agent on the other side of our deal gave us the warranty. Worthless

As indicated, this customer purchased a Standard Home Warranty with the Premier upgrade for $375. Unfortunately this does not cover a refrigerator. Landmark does offer a Value Package with Premier and the refrigerator for only $400. Many of our contracts are purchased with a home, and the seller does not include extra items like a refrigerator.

I am the Chief Marketing Officer for Landmark Home Warranty. We do our very best to be open and honest about all our coverage options, and we provide homeowners up to 30 days after a home closes to upgrade and modify their coverage to ensure all needed items are covered.

We have an A+ BBB rating. In 8 years we have 3 BBB complaints; the lowest by far in all the Home Warranty industry. If we could afford it, we would never say no to a customer. It isn't enjoyable for anyone. We are here for the long haul, and we will do everything we can to make your home warranty experience the best possible.

@Mike I would think the company would have offered to fix the issue for the $25 upgrade and keep the happy customer who would be posting fabulous praises about your company, where the customer comes FIRST.

Just a thought.

I will have a HW purchased for me at closing and I will only keep the policy based on service from the company, which does not sound like it will be with Landmark.

Best of luck Landmark!

Keeping the customer happy is a primary concern, but please understand that although we may only collect $25 for this option, it covers up to $2000 of repair or replacement costs. We service thousands of claims a month.

If we covered items that were not paid for to make customers happy, we would quickly go out of business. We are actually the only HW company I know of that gives the customer up to 30 days after purchase to upgrade or modify their coverage, and a personal Welcome Call to explain what is covered, and what is not.

I purchased car insurance for my son recently and opted to go with liability only. It was $30 more for full coverage.

Three months later he gets into an accident, and although it covered the other car, we are stuck with a $1500 bill on our car. How I wish I would have gotten full coverage.

You are mistaken Landmark. OneGuard Home Warranties pioneered a welcome call and encourages any changes in coverage within 30 days of closing.

BBB is a ridiculous entity where you pay to get a good rating. OneGuard relies on Angie's List Yelp! AND Google+ for unpaid and unsolicited ratings. The only home warranty that does that.

They have an A rating and super service industry award btw. THE ONLY home warranty company in history to have this.
